The real time safe online-banking payment solution, SafetyPay, was proud to send one of their own to participate as a panel speaker at the 2013 Game Developers in San Francisco, CA recently on March 29th.
Jonathan Newall, SafetyPay’s Director of U.S. Sales, spoke on a panel with four other presenters on how alternative payment system providers can help gaming companies earn more revenue abroad, especially in emerging markets. Also participating were representatives from Yandex Money, Skrill/Moneybookers, Payelp Global, and Incomm.
The panel’s discussion lasted about 60 minutes, and was moderated by Dean Takahashi, lead writer for GameBeat (VentureBeat). The speakers discussed and responded to questions addressing the diverse global landscape of e-commerce payments for gaming companies in emerging markets, particularly in the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China). They provided insights as to which regions payment providers see as the fastest growing markets and how gaming companies can earn even more revenue in these regions.
The panel highlighted the need for a comprehensive payment strategy in emerging markets as consumers wish to pay in their preferred payment method. "In the U.S., credit card adoption rates are high, however, they vary significantly in emerging markets where cash, real-time bank transfers, e-wallets and other forms of alternative payment comprise a large part, and in some cases, the majority of e-commerce payments," says Jonathan Newell of SafetyPay.
