Rapak, a business unit of DS Smith Plastics and market leader in liquid bag-in box packaging and filling systems, has opened a new manufacturing facility in Chachoengsao, Thailand. The new facility —located 20 minutes from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport— is ideally positioned to service Rapak customers in the South East Asian region that can now benefit from reduced lead-times, lower inventories and freight costs.

“Rapak Thailand will provide local customers with more than just a regional focus, as its strategic location near various irradiation facilities and Thailand’s larger shipping port — Laem Chabang— provides an efficient supply chain that customers will benefit from,” commented Santi Khunpisitwong, General Manager of Rapak Thailand. “The new facility — built to the highest standards including clean-room environments for bag manufacturing— will be focusing in the manufacturing of aseptic bag-in box products and has great potential of expanding its product offer to other emerging market segments for bag in box such as Quick Serve Restaurant (QSR) and Food Service.” concluded Khunpisitwong.

“Bag-in-Box packaging solutions are expected to continue to grow as customers and end users become more familiar with its demonstrated environmental credentials, variety of dispensing applications and cost advantages over other traditional forms of liquid packaging,” stated Simon Mander, Managing Director of Rapak Asia Pacific. “These factors will underpin the growth of our business here in the South East Asian region and beyond,” concluded Mr. Mander.
